In its official Web site, Pacific Storm is billed as "An exciting new hybrid title...[that] mixes the strategic elements of RTS titles with the action of an arcade title. RTS fans will enjoy classic strategy elements including resource management, unit and building construction and unit deployment, while action fans will be happy to take to the skies or seas as they directly control units in intense combat. It's like getting two fantastic WWII titles for the price of one!"
Several early customer and Web reviews of CDV Software's Pacific Storm cite problems with bugs and artificial intelligence.
Two customer reviews posted at amazon.com essentially state the game has great potential, but it crashes too much.
A GameSpot hands-on review gives the game a mediocre rating and states "...too much unnecessary micromanagement, subpar artificial intelligence, and a host of quirks and bugs sink this overly ambitious effort just before it reaches port."
Over at IGN, a hands-on review gives it a "Impressive" rating principally based on its depth and effectiveness at combining operational and tactical aspects of the Pacific War. The review states "...gamers who are willing to dig deep will definitely find that the game rewards their efforts, provided that the crashes in tactical mode are ironed out with a quick patch."
We did not find any patches at the CDV or Pacific Storm Web sites.
