Lifeguard League


Aviator rescues by American submarines did not begin when the Submarine Lifeguard League began operating in September 1943. From January 1942 to February 1944, six American submarines were tasked with rescuing a total of sixty-nine aviation personnel. Six of them were with the U. S. Navy, twenty-nine of them were with the U. S. Army Air Corps, and thirty-four of them were with the Royal Australian Air Force. None of these rescues were included in the data reported for the Submarine Lifeguard League.
