I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I frequently forget to tell my crew to stand down from Battle Stations after a heated encounter with the enemy.  This makes for a pretty fatigued crew.

OneTinSoldier posted a keyboard shortcut over at the SubSim forum to toggle Battlestations on and off using the Shift + B keys.  You need to edit the 'commands.cfg'.  On my system, the path to it is:

c:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Cfg\Commands.cfg

Using Notepad, open the file and scroll down to the following:

[Cmd436]
Name=Toggle_battle-stations
Ctxt=1

Edit it to read as follows (and of course save it):
[Cmd436]
Name=Toggle_battle_stations
Ctxt=1
Key0=0x42,s,"SHIFT B"

Now all you have to do is press Shift + B to toggle Battle Stations on/off.

Thank you OneTinSoldier!

Pacific Thunder - The Silent Hunter Campaign

We go to sea on diesel boats, they call us bubblehead.
Our blood is laced with diesel smoke, we’re sailors to the end.
Our diesels wind thru the salty brine until we take her deep.
Then we turn her loose on battery juice and we all go to sleep.
Diesel boats forever, hear the diving claxon sound.
Diesel boats forever, take her deep, take her down.

Hmm, talking of keyboard shortcuts, how about one to shut off that bloody annoying chronometer that comes up every time you hit 512x time compression - really frustrating, especially with a go7400 card in my laptop - really drops the frame rate when it appears and difficult to get to to switch it off.

I seem to remember someone on subsim also offering one to switch off radar warnings on the way home instead of dropping to 8x or 1x compression every 10 seconds - another really annoying thing

How would I change the command room shortcut to be Attack Map?

I'm new to this forum, so if there is a FAQ ( I could not find one that had this topic), please point me in the right direction...

thanx, mark

Here is my stolen fair and square Trigger Maru keyboard layout. It has "B" hooked to battlestations, F6 to attack map, shift-w to weather report, and as a bonus, shift-i for "identify target." The layout is very similar to SH3 and works with any mods installed. http://files.filefront.com/Alternate+Key+Bindings7z/;9762884;/fileinfo.html

IN real life, yellow is general quarters, green is the dive alarm, and red is the collesion alarm.

Which is what those do, with the exception of the collesion alarm. I made that crash dive instead, since there is no collesion alarm in game.

I have been debating to myself if i want to use a collesion alarm sound mixed with the sounds of doors/hatch's shutting, which would preceed the current, "emergency dive" sound.

It sounds like a cool idea, except that i think the two sounds are opposite, since if you were prepairing for a colleision, diving would be the last thing you'd do.  So im not sure how far out into fantasy field i want to take it.

You're right. I'd hook it up to existing crash dive sounds. Pretty good for a lousy 3-d modeler. So you'll be able to click on these and initiate the functions?
