Pacific Thunder Campaign 9 begins on March 1, 2010

PTC 9 will mark our tenth anniversary as an online community.  It all began back in January 2000 with Ray Hayden ("Hondo") and a few other founding fathers.  I joined the campaign on February 28, 2000.   Subsowespac.org went online on October 24, 2000, originally as the flagship web site for the Asiatic and Southwest Pacific Fleet beginning in PTC 2.  Back then we had two separate fleets - Pacific and Asiatic/Southwest Pacific.  Scott Andersen created and operated the Pacific Fleet web site.  At the end of PTC 2, Hondo asked me if I would be interested in assuming the responsibility for using subsowespac.org as the PTC's primary web presence.  At first I said no because back then I had just transferred to a new job in Florida which required a lot of travel throughout the Caribbean area and the Sunshine State, and I was not sure if I would have the time to maintain a web site.  However, after obtaining a new Dell laptop, and with the growth of the Internet, I soon realized I would be able to stay connected wherever my travels took me.  In addition, I had become very interested in web programming and development and had picked a retirement date.  At the end of 2003 I would have a new job title - "Retired."  So I contacted Ray and we arranged to transfer the PTC's flag from battlebelow.com to subsowespac.org effective cycle 3.

With the end of PTC 7, we bid farewell to Silent Hunter Commander's Edition.  Our focus shifted to adapting Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific to the Pacific Thunder Campaign (the reverse is probably equally as relevant).  In that I believe we were successful.  We learned a lot in PTC 8.  We introduced some of our own mods.  In PTC 9 these mods will enable us to conduct the campaign with the same functionality we enjoyed in the old days with SHCE and Hawk's suite of utilities.
